HUD Approved Training Course
Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair, And Painting
EPA and HUD jointly developed this 8 hour training course to instruct renovators, painters, and remodelers how to work safely in homes with lead-based paint. This course is approved by HUD, in accordance with the Lead-Safe Housing Rule (24 CFR Part 35), for training contractors working in federally owned or assisted housing. EPA strongly recommends this training for all contractors who perform renovation, remodeling, painting, or maintenance in residential housing built before 1978 to protect the families that live in these homes as well as the workers and their families.
The above course is NOT designed to meet the training requirements established under OSHA’s Interim Final Rule: Lead in Construction Standard (29 CFR 1926.62). OSHA requires annual training for all workers who are exposed to lead at or above the action level established in the OSHA Lead in Construction Standard.
